Jessica O. Matthews is the founder of Uncharted Power, a company that’s changing the way we think about energy. As a young Nigerian-American student, she had an idea that would eventually disrupt the energy sector. During a family trip to Nigeria, Matthews experienced firsthand the challenges of living with unreliable electricity. So when she returned to college, she got to work.

Her first breakthrough? A soccer ball that generates electricity as it’s kicked. Called the SOCCKET, it stores power that can later be used to charge devices or light up a room. That invention earned global attention and was only the beginning.

Today, Jessica leads Uncharted Power, which designs infrastructure that creates clean energy through everyday motion—like people walking or cars driving. Her company is focused on providing clean energy solutions to underserved communities, where reliable access to power can change everything—from education to healthcare to economic opportunity.

Matthews holds more than a dozen patents and has earned widespread recognition as a trailblazer in sustainable energy and STEM innovation. But what makes her truly remarkable is her mission-driven heart. She’s not just building technology—she’s building hope.
